Palccoyo Mountain.
This impressive natural formation features three rainbow mountains. Adding to the attraction is an impressive rock forest and an easy, gentle access road, it’s a good alternative to Vinincunca’s Rainbow Mountain.
DESCRIPTION:
Palccoyo Mountain is located 137 km south of Cusco, approximately 3.5 hours away.
The route we took to reach Palccoyo Mountain is marked by villages characteristic of the Peruvian Andes, immersed in a mountainous landscape with valleys filled with cultivated fields. After approximately two hours, before reaching the Combapata Bridge (3,475 m.a.s.l.), we detour towards Palccoyo Mountain. For another hour and a half, this road passes through several picturesque villages dedicated to agriculture and alpaca breeding.
The adventure begins at the checkpoint at 4,830 m.a.s.l. The road presents unique landscapes due to the high elevation, surrounded by snow-capped mountains such as Ausangate (6,384 m.a.s.l.). It passes through a rocky forest until reaching the viewpoint of the Three Rainbow Mountains (4,879 m.a.s.l.), making the route a very accessible, easy-level path with a gentle incline.
